The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has said there will be no respite from heatwave conditions over East India till May 1 and over South Peninsular region for the next five days. The weather office has also extended red alerts for Odisha, Bihar, West Bengal, and Rayalaseema.
The IMD, however, stated that heavy rainfall and thunderstorms will likely continue over Northeast India during the next five days. These states include Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and others.
Dry Spell To Prevail In Bengaluru Till May 5
According to the weather agency, Bengaluru will continue to see dry weather till May 5. The city is also likely to see a maximum temperature of around 37 degrees over the next 48 hours, Hindustan Times reported.

Heatwave To Continue In Mumbai For A Few Days
According to the IMD, heatwave-like conditions in Mumbai are likely to continue for a few days.
In its five-day forecast for the Konkan Goa region of Maharashtra, the weather agency predicted a gradual rise in temperature by 1-2 degrees in the next two days and then a reduction thereafter.
Temperature Unlikely To Rise In Delhi Over Next Few Days
Temperature is unlikely to rise in Delhi over the next three days, however, it may reach 40 degrees on the weekend. Some thunderstorm activity is likely to occur with strong winds and lightning on May 4.
Bengal, Odisha And South India Weather Updates
- Heat Wave to severe heatwave conditions are very likely to continue in many places over Odisha, Bihar till May 1 and Gangetic West Bengal till May 2 and will reduce in intensity thereafter.
- Heat Wave to severe heatwave conditions are very likely to prevail in isolated pockets over Rayalaseema on May 2 and 3.
- Heatwave conditions in isolated pockets over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Saurashtra and Kutch, and Rayalaseema are likely to continue till May 1.
- Telangana, Interior Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam during the next five days are likely to see heatwave conditions prevail over the next five days.
- Hot and humid weather is very likely to prevail over West Assam, Tripura, south Gujarat Region, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal till May 1, Konkan and Goa till May 3, and over Coastal Karnataka during the next five days.
