Drowning: Bodies of victims cremated

CHERAI: The body of Praveen Das, 22, who drowned while having a bath in Cherai sea on Saturday was recovered by local people when the body surfaced on the northern side of the Pallathamkulangara Beach in Vypeen Island in the wee hours of Sunday.  The body of Rahul, friend of Praveen, was fished out on Saturday.Rahul is survived by father Reji Odassery, mother Jaya and a younger sister.  He was a student of SNM Engineering College, Moothakunnam.Praveen is survived by father Raghavan Nikathuthara (an employee of Bharat Petroleum), mother Kanjana   and sister Prabulla Binod.Praveen has completed BTech degree.   Their friend Srudeesh who also was caught in the current at Cherai sea had a providential escape when a foreigner saved him.  The postmortem examination of the bodies of Rahul and Praveen Das was conducted at Paravoor Taluk Hospital mortuary on Sunday.  The bodies were cremated on their house premises on Sunday in the presence of hundreds of people.
