PUDUCHERRY: A bunch of students from the ASN Government Middle School, Mudaliarpet, gave their alma mater much to cheer about on Thursday with their team emerging both winners and runners-up in the ‘Faites de la Science’ (Make Science Competitions) 2011 organised by the University of Paris, France. The winning team was announced through live video conferencing by Philippe Masson, chief of jury and dean of faculty of science of the prestigious university.The Make Science Competitions, which entered its fifth consecutive year, is an annual programme for students from class VII to XI in the government schools in the UT. According to Pondicherry Science Forum secretary Raghunath, the 12 best teams were chosen out of the total 40 teams contesting this year. The bio-char project (charcoal treated with bio-manure and used to increase the fertility of soil), by the ASN Government Middle School was adjudged the best. The winners were awarded 300 Euros and certificates.
