Divaharan sent to judicial custody

THANJAVUR: Divaharan, the brother of Sasikala, who was presented before the Mannargudi Judicial Magistrate after a one-day police custody in a government land grab case, was sent back to the Tiruchy Central Prison. When Magistrate Iyappan Pillai asked Divaharan whether he was tortured or forced to sign any document, Divaharan stated that he was not forced.Later, the judge sent Divaharan back to the Tiruchy Central Prison as his judicial custody ends only on April 9. On March 25, Divaharan and Midas Mohan were accused of grabbing a government land near the Rukminipalayam bus depot, which belonged to a government students hostel. Village Administrative Officer Anbalagan had registered a complaint in this regard. In his complaint, the VAO stated that he was threatened by Divaharan and his aides. On Wednesday, the Mannargudi police was granted custody of Divaharan by the Mannargudi Judicial Magistrate.
