New Delhi: Team India's latest star, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has the world's best strike rate in One-Dayers and the second best average of all time

Dhoni has even surpassed batting greats like Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Adam Gilchrist.

After 24 ODIs, Dhoni has a strike rate of 108.50 and an average of 49.43, second only to Australian Michael Bevan's 53.58 who played 232 matches.

Dhoni took the leap in both categories with his world-record 183 not out, the best ever by a wicket keeper, against Sri Lanka in Jaipur Oct 31.

The wicket keeper batsman from Jharkhand also holds the record for the world's sixth highest individual innings jointly with Sourav Ganguly.

The stumper goes into the sixth One-Dayer against Sri Lanka at Rajkot Wednesday hoping to better his brilliant statistics and get a place in the Test team for the three-match series against the Lankans ahead of Dinesh Kaarthick.

Since making his ODI debut against Bangladesh at Chittagong on December 23 last year, Dhoni has played 24 matches and scored 791 runs with help of two centuries and two half-centuries.

However, what is remarkable is that Dhoni's career average, which was 37.53 after the second match against Sri Lanka at Mohali Oct 28, catapulted to 49.43 in the next ODI three days later at Jaipur as he hit 10 sixes and 15 boundaries during his 145-ball blitz.

Pakistan's Shahid Afridi at 108.20 is second on the strike-rate list, while Sehwag's atrike-rate is 95.92.
