Dharna planned against eviction

BANGALORE: Opposing the government order asking slum dwellers in Rajajinagar behind ISCKON Temple to vacate the land, Samatha Sainik Dal will be staging a dharna in front of Chief Minister's residence on June 29.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday,President of Samatha Sainik Dal M Venkata Swamy said, "Once the dharna is over, we will be meeting the housing minister and submit a memorandum.""The slum dwellers in this Rajajinagar area have been residing here for more than 25 years now. In addition, they should also be given the biometric card which other slum dwellers in Siddartha Colony, Milk Colony and Vasanthapura slum have. About 256 houses have been built for the slum dwellers in Sanjay Gandhi Nagar, but they are all of poor quality," Swamy added.
