New Delhi: A Delhi Police constable was shot at and injured by a security guard deployed at All India Radio's (AIR) office in north Delhi on Monday after he crashed his car on the office's main gate, officials said.

Ankit Kumar, in his 30s, was shot at by the guard - a constable with Nagaland Police - around 3 a.m. The AIR office is near Delhi University's SGTB Khalsa College.

"Ankit Kumar's car crashed into AIR's gate early morning. The impact of the collision was such that the car entered the premises through the locked gate. However, when he was trying to reverse his car to get out, he was shot at by the guard," said Deputy Commissioner of Police Madhur Verma.

Ankit Kumar received a bullet on the left side of his chest and was rushed to the Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan Hospital, where he was said to be out of danger.

A case of negligent driving has been registered against Ankit Kumar at the Timarpur police station.
