The sealing drive in Delhi will not be carried out this week as adequate police force will not be available.

New Delhi: The sealing drive in Delhi will not be carried out this week as adequate police force will not be available for the court-ordered action due to the municipal polls to be held on April 5.

The civic body will not carry out the sealing drive from Tuesday up to April 8 as the State Election Commission will be deploying police personnel for the polls, an MCD spokesman said.

The MCD elections will take place on April 5 and the counting of votes will be held on April 7.

The sealing drive is expected to resume next Monday.

Meanwhile, the sealing of unauthorised commercial establishments continued at a slow pace on Monday with the civic body taking action against just 13 shops.

Nine shops were sealed on Geetanjali Road in South Zone while four were sealed on Jaipur Golden Hospital Road in Rohini Zone.

With this, the total number of shops sealed has reached 140 since the resumption of the drive on March 28.
