The Congress Working Committee (CWC) is meeting in New Delhi on Tuesday amid heightened speculation that the party high command was close to taking a stance on Telangana issue.
According to sources, Telangana issue will be taken up for discussion at the meeting, which will start at 8.45 am on Tuesday. As there is a difference of opinion between the party leaders from Seemandhra and Telangana, the AICC top brass is likely to discuss all the pros and cons of dividing the state or keeping it united.
It is learnt that Telangana will be on top the agenda for the CWC meeting. Some state Congress leaders believe that the meeting might finalise the party's stand on the Telangana issue to faciliatte holding of an all-party meeting to take a final decision.
When asked about the possibility of arriving at a conclusion, AICC spokesman Manish Tiwari admitted that the Tealngana issue might come up for discussion at the meeting but said that it was unlikely that the party's stand would be finalised at the meeting in the absence of a unanimity among leaders of the different regions of the state.
