After getting into the bad books of almost everyone else, the Emerging Kerala investors meet has come under fire by the Kozhikode Corporation officials too for the inclusion of the Njeliyamparamba waste treatment plant as one of their proposals on their website.
Corporation authorities were surprised to find the projects listed as part of Emerging Kerala and Deputy Mayor P T Abdul Latheef said that no consultations had been made with the corporation before taking such a move.
“While it is true that we had decided to seek the cooperation of the state government for the project, there were never any plans to showcase it in some investors meet and gather funds. Apparently, they have put up detailed plans on the Emerging Kerala website but we are not aware of any such plans,” he said.
The project profile uploaded on the website also states that ‘Suchitwa Mission is asked to develop a modern MSW plant through PPP route’, something which, according to Mayor A K Premajam, is not true. “I have no idea where Suchitwa Mission came from as we have not tasked them to do anything,” she said.
She also said that the corporation had not yet confirmed on what financial model the plant would be built. She also added that under no condition would the corporation hand over the ownership of the land to any party.
