The continuous rainfall in the state of Telangana has left the people of the state in great distress. Thousands of rescue officials are posted in the state to bring out people from highly affected areas. This heavy rainfall has also caused huge problems in the lives of the farmers as a significant amount of crops has been already damaged. According to estimates of the agriculture department officials, around 18,000 acres of crops are already damaged due to rain and waterlogging in Karimnagar district.

The most affected crops include cotton, maize, chilli, pigeon peas, soybeans, green grams, black grams and various vegetables. The officials further mentioned that the damage to crops can increase extensively as the rain continues and the fields are still filled with water. “We have presently made a preliminary assessment report to calculate the probable damage. A comprehensive report will be released later, which will give a clearer picture of the total damage,” the official added.

Several ponds, rivers and reservoirs have overflown creating problems for the people of the state.
