BANGALORE: City-based advocate G R Mohan issued a contempt notice to Financial Advisor (Regulatory Affairs) of KPTCL, B M Chandrashekhar following the load shedding in the state due scarcity of power. Mohan had filed a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking directions to KPTCL not to resort to load shedding depriving the students from studying for the examination. Earlier, a division bench headed by Chief Justice J S Khehar had disposed of the matter after the financial advisor on January 24 had submitted that every attempt is made to manage the load shedding and will be ensured that minimum hardship will be caused to the public at large. However, after the power utilities resorted to unscheduled load shedding, the petitioner warned of initiating contempt of court proceedings if KPTCL fails to stop the unscheduled load shedding of power across the state. In his notice, the petitioner said that in spite of the affidavit to the High Court it is noticed that unscheduled load shedding is still causing inconvenience to the farmers, Industrialists, students and general public throughout the state. The petitioner has stated that despite the heavy rainfall in the catchment areas and the dams brimming with water load shedding is introduced without alerting the public and without any reasons for the power cuts.
