HYDERABAD: The Energy Conservation Committee (ECC) of the Energy department has decided to involve all stake holders in the implementation of energy conservation initiatives of the state government in order to achieve not only reduction in electricity wastage but also to tackle the challenge of ever growing peak-hour power demand.The first meeting of the Energy Conservation Committee held under the chairmanship of Ahmed Nadeem made a  fervent appeal to  the general  public to participate in the gigantic exercise to make energy conservation measures  more effective.The ECC emphasized the need for a Strategic Energy Conservation Plan with the coordination of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Union Ministry of Power, New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of AP  (NREDCAP) and NGOs concerned at the field level. The objective of the government is to balance energy supply and demand with the maximum resource efficiency.The ECC has apprised Dinesh Kumar, principal secretary, Energy department, of the programmes being taken up to achieve the desired goals. Dinesh Kumar directed the ECC to submit a comprehensive report to the government by the end of September. The committee has resolved to expedite the implementation of Bachat Lamp Yojana (BLY) in all the four electricity distribution companies (Discoms).A sub-committee of the CPDCL, Hyderabad will get the feedback on energy conservation initiatives from the industrial sector with special focus on small and medium scale industries, while the NPDCL, Warangal will be doing the same job in the agriculture sector, the EPDCL, Visakhapatnam in the domestic sector and the SPDCL, Tirupati will focus on government organisations and local bodies.ECC members P Rajagopal Reddy, P Ganapathy, S Vishwanatham, N Rammohan and A Chandrasekhara Reddy,   (member -convenor) participated in the deliberations.
