Coming soon: Kiss of love in Bengaluru
The Bengaluru chapter is likely to see around 150 people taking part.

Bengaluru: The Kiss of Love campaign is set to be held in Bengaluru in a week or two. The Bengaluru edition is spearheaded by 23-year-old human rights activist Rachita Taneja. "We're holding the event to show solidarity with those who faced moral policing. I've always been against moral policing," says Rachita, who has also taken part in the revolutionary Pink Chaddi movement back in 2008.

Showing solidarity against moral policing, the Kiss of Love movement urges people to come out and show their support by kissing their loved ones in public. The movement was initiated in Kochi earlier this month after the youth wing of the BJP attacked a coffee shop in Kozhikode. The Bengaluru chapter is likely to see around 150 people taking part. The event will be publicised on social media. "The Kiss of Love, Kochi organisers have promised to push the Bengaluru event on their page as well."

Though the original plan was to hold it in the boulevard near the metro station on MG Road, the event is now likely to be in front of Town Hall, a popular spot for public demonstrations in the city. Taking lessons from what happened during the events in other cities, the organisers are taking no chances to prevent any backlash. They will be putting up a disclaimer on their page. "I don't want anyone getting hurt or arrested," says Rachita.

The Kochi edition drew widespread attention, with police even arresting and lathi-charging many protesters.

"We will take a suitable and informed decision when the organisers approach us," Alok Kumar, Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Bengaluru told CNN-IBN.

Though initially, the plan was to hold it on Saturday, November 22, it is likely to be postponed to next Saturday.
