CNN-IBN wins Asian Television Award for poll coverage
Awards recognise excellence in programming, production and performance.

New Delhi: CNN-IBN, the No.1 English news channel in India, won the 14th Asian Television Awards, which recognises excellence in programming, production and performance.

The channel was awarded in the Best News Programme category for its excellent coverage on counting day during the General Elections 2009 when CNN-IBN was the most watched English News channel across audience groups.

CNN-IBN presented some of the most informed, incisive and intelligent programmes under its umbrella of Election Specials like, ‘A Billion Votes’ & ‘The Verdict’, CNN-IBN brought together some of the most credible, comprehensive, most definitive shows and post poll survey like ‘Rock The Vote’, ‘India Can India Will’, ‘Face the Elections’, ‘Battle for India’, ‘Election Katha with Ram’, ‘Kings & Queens’ and the ‘CSDS National Election Study presented by CNN-IBN, IBN7 & Dainik Bhaksar’ which made it the No.1 English news channel across audience groups on the day of counting when it mattered the most to the country.

On the counting day, CNN-IBN had a panel of country’s most formidable election experts including Rajdeep Sardesai, Yogendra Yadav, Karan Thapar, Diptosh Majumdar, Sagarika Ghose, Nandan Nilekani, Ramachandra Guha, Dileep Padgaonkar, P. Sainath, Lord Meghnad Desai, Inder Malhotra and Fareed Zakaria.
