PUDUCHERRY: Chief minister N Rangasamy, on Wednesday, inaugurated the scheme providing cattle feed and calf feed to milk producers living below the poverty line at 75 per cent subsidised rate at a function jointly organised by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Animal welfare and Ponlait.The subsidised rate of cattle feed being Rs 3.60 per kg and calf feed is Rs 3.80 per kg. Milk producers can obtain the feed permits from the respective primary cooperative milk producers society and get the get the feed from veterinary dispensary of their area.The chief minister had already announced the introduction of three new livestock rearing schemes under 50 per cent subsidy to encourage the livestock rearing and increase the milk and meat production in the region. Under these schemes 400 elite dairy farms were set up, 1200 elite crossbred milch cow and 1250 goat are being reared. The total outlay for this is Rs 9 crore.
