HYDERABAD: Rainbow, a showcase of contemporary art by Lokeshwar Rao is currently on at the Chitramayee State Gallery in the city.An Indian forest service officer by profession, Rao always had an inclination towards painting, drawing and sketching.His works spoke volumes of things looked in an altered perspective with a different perceptive ability.The paintings on display were of zodiac signs, a picture of a bull looking resplendent in green, red and yellow colours signifying the sign Taurus.Also, on display were tanjore and abstract paintings in digital form using different media on canvas, and paper and paints with poster and acrylic colors.His style of painting is lines and rich colors.The colours he used in his painting were bright, creative and vibrant.The texture used for the painting is acrylic in canvas and mixed media.One of the painting which featured Buddha in three different shades --- saffron, white and green gave a message that India needs to adopt the qualities of Buddha like maintaining cordial relations, follow ahimsa and analyse the situation for a better result to restore peace and harmony in India, which is the need of hour.Lokeshwar Rao said that “creativity has no boundaries” and painting for him gives immense happiness.His art works talk of humans and nature in a different way which would provoke one to think of the depths in the painting and in life altogether.The exhibition has something for everyone, if nothing specific on the mind to purchase, just a stroll in the gallery would make you pick up something which would not be a burden to your pocket.The paintings are on for sale till August 30.Chitramayee State Gallery of Fine Arts has been a treasure house of paintings where various art schools and artists showcase their talent to entertain, educate the masses about the evolving contemporary art.Students from fine arts universities and colleges use this as a platform to emerge themselves in the ever evolving stream of contemporary art.
