Making earth a better place

The second edition of ‘Earthian’ program, was launched in the city last week. This sustainability programme for schools and colleges was designed to act as a catalyst for fostering excellence in sustainability thinking amongst young people. The annual awards programme is a first step towards a deeper engagement with children and young adults in schools and colleges. ‘Earthian’ programme continues from last year’s success which saw over 1800 registrations and participation from 800 schools and colleges. Although ‘Earthian’ goes global this year, it is also focusing on reaching out to smaller towns and centers across the country, at the same time. Teams are required to submit their entries in the form of an essay or narrative on scenario related to sustainability. Participants are encouraged to identify a scenario, explore multiple layers and unravel the interrelatedness; and suggest approaches relevant to the context. The 10 selected institutes from ‘Earthian’ 2011 are now part of a three year continuing engagement programme - the second  phase and essentially the core of the program. Last day for registration is August 3. For details check www.wipro.org/earthian or email [email protected]
