New Delhi: The youth in Kolkata took out a silent candlelight procession around the Eden Gardens on Monday afternoon to protest the 'inhuman' treatment meted out to the computer graphic teacher Rizwanur Rehman.

Meanwhile, the Cricket Association of Bengal president, Prasun Mukherjee, who is also the city Police Commissioner, chaired the working committee meeting at the venue at the same time.

With their faces covered with black ribbons and posters on their chests proclaiming 'shame', the 21 youngsters were decrying the mysterious death of Rizwanur whose body was found on September 21, nearly a month after he married a Hindu girl.

"We have come here to protest against the inhuman treatment meted out to Rizwanur and the way the CAB got entangled in the episode and the link between some CAB officials and those involved in cricket betting," one of the protesters said.

Rizwanur's father-in-law Ashok Todi was allegedly involved in cricket betting which was under investigation.
