BANGALORE: The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has been undertaking development work in Tavarekere Main Road.Executive Engineer of Waste Water Management, BWSSB, Siddaganga, said, “ We are placing RCC sanitary pipes, which are of 600 mm dia/24 inches.”The work which commenced on 26th of last month has been posing problems for the citizens. It is giving a tough time to the commuters who take this route to BTM Layout. Bibha, who drives from Taverekere Main Road to BTM Layout said, “I hope the work gets over soon as this has definitely increased the traffic in the area. We are forced to take the route where the lane is very narrow, causing traffic jams.” Diganth, a shopkeeper in the area, said, “The area has become dusty, thus, making it difficult for us to do business here. My question is will someone construct the road too and make it dust free?”On the present condition of the road, due to the ongoing work, Siddaganga, said, “We will restore the road as soon as the work is completed.” On the budget of the work, a BWSSB official said, "An amount of `36 lakh has been sanctioned. The old pipes were laid 30 years ago. Earlier, the pipes were small which could not accommodate the pressure of sewage water in this locality. We are connecting the laterals to the sub-main thus, diverting the sewage water from the locality. "Ravindra, a shopkeeper, said, “My business has been suffering due to the work undertaken. Customers are are going to the shops on the other side of the road. I know the work is for the betterment of this area so, I just want the officials to finish the work on time. I can see the pedestrians are also facing trouble while walking.” Vinod, another shopkeeper, said, “The customers avoid coming to our shops as the road has become very dusty.” On the problems faced by the shopkeepers Siddaganga, said, “We have taken the permission of the police for a month. Hence, the work will be completed within a month.” As of now, six workers are working, day in and day out, with four vehicles, 2JCB's and four lorries.
