BANGALORE: Mayor Sharadamma took Bangalore Water Supply and Sewage Board (BWSSB) officials to task for water pipe leakage in and around Shivajinagar.The mayor along with other Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike ( BBMP) officials inspected various wards in Shivajinagar on Tuesday. At ward no 90, 92 and 93, on Kamaraj Road and Dickenson Road, Sharadamma observed that in many places water pipe were cracked and the water had been leaking for the past many days. This has interrupted the Palike’s road repair and construction work. This has lead to the pathetic condition of the roads. She accused the BWSSB officials that for their irresponsibility because of which the repair work had been delayed.MLA Roshan Baig who was also present on the occasion informed the mayor about the illegal hoardings in Commercial Street. He said that the owners who had displayed these hoardings were not paying any rent. He also said that they were violating the advertisement policy of the BBMP. Reacting to this, on the spot, the mayor ordered the joint commissioner of the area to clear all the illegal holdings as soon as possible.She also issued a notice to Shubanjali garments on Kamaraj Road. The owner of the garments shop was using a cellar for commercial purposes. This space had been allotted for parking, according to the BBMP release.Sharadamma who also visited Veerapillai Street, Armstrong Street and other places, observed desilting in progress. The shop owners, residents and other localities complained that silt removing work is an ongoing process during every monsoon. They demanded for a permanent solution which the mayor assured. She said that she will discuss the same with experts and engineers for a permanent solution.Deputy mayor S Harish, BBMP ruling party president B R Nanjundappa, corporator Shakeel Ahmed were present.
