Bus catches fire in Gujarat, 28 dead
Twenty eight people died in a bus accident near Anand in Gujarat on Monday evening.

New Delhi: Twenty eight people died in a bus accident near Anand in Gujarat on Monday evening.

The accident happened when a tanker carrying LPG collided with a truck at around 1830 hrs IST and the sparks set off the fire on the bus which was about 10 to 12 feet away on the national Highway 8 near Anand in the state.

Four bystanders are among those dead.

The bus was travelling from Mehsana in north Gujarat to Godhra district.

Reports say rescue operations are still on and it is feared that some people are still trapped in the bus.

News agency PTI quoted police as saying that the passengers who suffered burn injuries have been rushed to a nearby hospital.

Of those injured, four are in seriously injured and are admitted in the Anand General Hospital.
