TIRUMALA: Instead of an annual Brahmotsavam of Lord Venkateswara, how about two Brahmotsavams a year? This is what Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams is mulling over. The idea was mooted by TTD Board of Trustees chairman K Bapiraju during a meeting with executive officer LV Subrahmanyam. He was discussing the possibility of organising a fruits and flowers exhibition on a permanent basis as part of the Brahmotsavam.During the course of the discussion, he mooted the idea of conducting Srivari Brahmotsavams twice a year, pointing out that in the past, several hundred years ago, some kings and chieftains had performed Brahmotsavams more than once.He said that since the TTD did not have financial constraints, it could always conduct the Brahmotsavams twice a year. When mediapersons approached the executive officer, he said the idea was mooted and they would put forth it before Agama Pandits for consideration. It is being contemplated that if Agama pandits are in favour, the festival will be held once in Uttarayanam and again in Dakshinayanam.
