THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A Bevco godown at Pappanamcode here was destroyed in a fire on Sunday. Though no one was injured in the fire,it is estimated to have caused a loss of lakhs of rupees. It took two and a half hours for 10 Fire and Rescue Service units from five stations to extinguish the fire which broke out around 12 noon. Short circuit is suspected to be the cause of the fire. Five loads of liquor, kept in the godown were destroyed in the fire. Beverages Corporation estimated the price of each load to be around `15 to `17 lakh. The godown was functioning on the first floor of a two-storeyed building. The ground floor of the building was a retail outlet of the Corporation.
