Mumbai: The Brihan Mumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking, or BEST, also has a restaurant-on-wheels. It serves hot piping food to commuters through it's mobile restaurant.
BEST is an integral part of a Mumbaikar's life. With 337 routes and more than 3391 buses, it helps more than 38 lakh people commute each day.
The mobile restaurant, which has a fully functional kitchen, serves snacks from a pavement in front of the Bombay High Court.
"Though originally instituted for BEST workers, now there are more taxi-drivers, lawyers and students who eat here than BEST workers," the restaurant supervisor said.
Started in the year 1967-68, the restaurant is run by contractors who bid for the contract every three years.
"The food here is cheap and very tasty. I have been coming to this place since my college days," a customer said.
Locals call the place the ?best? food joint in town. So, if you are looking for succulent fare in Mumbai that does not pinch your purse, this is the place to be.
