BANGALORE: Bangalore University will soon have a new Finance Officer taking charge. Vice-Chancellor Dr N Prabhu Dev confirmed that Finance Officer SA Razvi has been transferred and that his replacement has not been appointed yet.“Yes, it is true. Razvi has been transferred. Now, the State Controller of Accounts will form a panel of three to present a list of suitable candidates that will be sent to the government,” said Dr Prabhu Dev. Ruling out University’s role in his transfer, vice-Chancellor said that it was Razvi’s personal decision. “It was a personal choice made by Razvi. I do not know why he chose to do so, but BU has no hand in this,” he said.The transfer has come in the backdrop of the ongoing controversy regarding construction of Kolar Postgraduate Centre. The New Indian Express, in a report titled ‘BU Syndicate to meet Governor’ published on September 22, had written about allegations against S A Razvi on financial irregularities in the construction of the Kolar PG Centre.Apparently, Razvi had flouted rules, which states that a new work order has to be issued at new rates. “This has happened without the Syndicate’s approval. We want the Registrar and Finance Officer to be removed,” said a Syndicate member.
