Amidst the claims of all four ‘Shankaracharyas’ not attending the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya, the Shankaracharyas of Shringeri and Sharda Peeth has confirmed their participation in the sacred ceremony that will be conducted on January 22.

As per a press statement released by the Shringeri Sharda Peeth, “Shringeri Shankaracharya ji blesses that by participating in this very sacred and rare Pranpratistha Mahotsav in the appropriate context, all the believers become blessed by Lord Shri Ramchandra ji and become gratified.”

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) took to their official account to share the statement released by the Sharda and Shringeri Peeth.

The statement released by Shri Sharda Peeth stated that a dispute that has been there since 500 years has come to an end and called the sacred ceremony an occasion of happiness for the followers of Sanatan Dharma.

“We want that all the programs of the life consecration ceremony of Lord Shri Ram, which is going to be held in Ayodhya, should be conducted duly as per the Vedas and following the limits of the religious scriptures. This is a prayer to Lord Dwarkadhish,” the statement added.

Who are Shankaracharyas?

The Shankaracharyas are the heads of the four major shrines called ‘peeths’ situated in Joshimath in Uttarakhand, Dwarka in Gujarat, Puri in Odisha and Sringeri in Karnataka.

Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati said the Hindu religious gurus will not attend the grand ceremony as it violates the rules of Sanatan Dharma, reported The Telegraph. He explained that the installation of the idols of Lord Ram without the completion of the construction of the temple was against the Hindu religion.

“There was no need of such hurry,” he said.

Swami Avimukteshwaranand stressed there was enough time for the construction of the Ram Temple and then complete ‘Pran Pratishtha’ or the consecration ceremony.
