Charka Audio books, a unit of Karadi Tales Company Pvt Ltd along with Madras Books Club, launched an audio book titled A quiet courage. This is the first part of the series Ordinary People, Extraordinary Lives, an audio book that focuses on a true story based on Mahema and Manohar Devadoss.
Manohar Devadoss is a famous artist and writer who has published several books. Manohar’s ink drawings are also to be found on a series of heritage greeting cards, proceeds of which go to deserving organisations. Manohar’s art is widely exhibited and sold and the proceeds are donated to various charities. The 75-year-old, who is visually impaired, is currently working on his seventh book, From an artists perspective.
A quiet courage also traces the life of Mehma, who was rendered quadriplegic after a cruel accident. The obstacles seemed insurmountable. But with courage and dignity, they decided to take charge of their lives and redeem it.
The musical audio book also contains ten post cards prints of Manohar’s paintings. “We wanted to do this audio book because one must celebrate the everyday heroes in our society,” said Shobha Viswanath, Publishing Director.
The book is priced at `295 and Anil Srinivasan, a classical pianist has composed music for the book. “When I listened to the audio, I was deeply touched by the sensitivity with which the book has been created, its level of excellence, and its aural beauty,” said Manohar Devadoss.
The launch saw audio-visual presentation, excerpts from the audio book, and a piano recital by Anil Srinivasan.
