Former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday demanded a probe into alleged meeting of a state minister with a prisoner in Bikaner jail during the government's campaign 'Sarkar Apke Dwar' in Bikaner some time back.

Gehlot told reporters in the Assembly premises that a state minister met with a prisoner in Bikaner jail few days back when the cabinet was in Bikaner division for 12 days.

"The meeting details must be there in the jail records. It should be probed that to whom the minister met," he said, while dubbing the incident a "failure of the government".

Gehlot said the law and order situation in the state was deteriorating and demanded a through probe of the gang war in which three jail inmates were killed in Bikaner on Thursday.

The former CM said the government was formed with a heavy mandate but Cabinet expansion was pending due to which governance was suffering and as a result of that, the law and order situation was deteriorating.
