Arumugam PA held for land grab

CHENNAI: The Central Crime Branch arrested the political PA of DMK former minister Veerapandi Arumugam on charges of land grabbing on Friday. Police said they arrested P Koushika Bhupathy (58) near a hotel in Egmore following a complaint from one Muthu (56) of Lakshmiamman Koil Street, Kolathur.Muthu along with Koushika Bhupathy and one Ravi  had purchased 40.38 acres of land in Pammadhu Kulam village near Red Hills and had registered it in their names, police said.  Muthu gave the power of attorney of the land to Bhupathy, but later found that the land had been sold to Bhupathy’s family members and others while he had not received any money, police said. Muthu came to know of this when he tried to sell a portion of the property. He then lodged a complaint with the Chennai police commissioner. Bhupathy was arrested and remanded to judicial custody.
