Alis family on cloud nine

MALAPPURAM: The supporters of Manjalamkuzhi Ali celebrated his elevation as minister by distributing a special dish called ‘Ancham Manthri Payasam’ on Thursday. The payasam was even green in colour.Ali’s well-wishers and supporters thronged his house in Panagangara on Thursday.Ali’s wife A P M Rasiya, mother Perinjeeri Ayisha and other relatives watched the swearing-in ceremony live on television along with the people gathered at the house. Fireworks followed the swearing-in ceremony and the family members distributed sweets to the people. “The new position will help serve the public more effectively and we are happy that he got the ministerial post at last,” Ali’s wife said.His elder brother Ahmed Haji and uncle Perinjeeri Alavi Haji were also present at the house. The minister’s eldest son had accompanied him to Thiruvananthapuram.  Most of the party leaders in Perinthalmanna and Mankada had gone to Thiruvananthapuram to watch the swearing-in ceremony.Ali’s native place is all set to accord a grand reception to him. Celebrations were also held in various parts of Malappuram district on Thursday.
