BANGALORE: The Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum directed the Aircraft Employees Cooperative Society Ltd to refund Rs 44,500, to a member who had paid the amount for allottment of a site more than 22 years ago. The forum has also imposed a cost of Rs 10,000 on the society along with 15 per cent interest and Rs 2 lakh compensation. S Keshav Murthy of Jayanagar had paid Rs 44,500 in three installments between 1989 and 93 for a site that was estimated to cost Rs1,15,000 in the layout that was developed by the society in Singasandra Village in Begur Hobli. The society had promised to allot a particular site to Murthy. However, the society did not allot the promised site due to various reasons including court cases against the land acquisition for the said layout. The society offered to allot a site in the layouts developed in Chikkanahalli and Kammanahalli near Varthur. Being aggreived by the lackadaisical approach of the society in allotting the promised site, Murthy filed a suit seeking the refund of the amount that he had paid, along with Rs 8 lakh compensation before the Third Additional Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum. The forum directed The Aircraft Employees Cooperative Society Ltd to refund Rs 44,500 that was paid by Murthy along with 15 per cent interest, Rs 2 lakh compensation for the inconvenience caused to him and Rs 10,000 towards the litigation costs.
