BANGALORE: The recent trend that has caught the fancy of school teachers and parents is career counselling centres. Over 20 such counselling centres have mushroomed in the city in recent times and are attracting students too. “The process of counselling begins with subjecting students to an aptitude test to find out their main areas of interest. Based on this test and also through personal interview sessions, students are given two course choices,” said S Prajwala, a student counsellor from a centre. ICSE and CBSE schools’ teachers are advicing their wards to visit such centres before  selecting courses for college. “There are many who change careers mid-way. This  is why we are advising parents to opt for this,” said Sita Pandith, a teacher from an ICSE school. Usually, the centres charge from Rs 500 to Rs 3,000 depending on the length of these sessions.
