Advani beat compatriot Devendra Joshi in the quarters and will meet Mike Russell in the semi-final.

Leeds: Ace Indian cueist Pankaj Advani advanced to the semifinals of the World Billiards Championship after defeating compatriot Devendra Joshi by 279 points here.

Advani had an average of 31.25 in 32 visits while Joshi managed to score 721 points with an average of 22.53 in 1000 Up match in the quarterfinal tie.

During the match, Advani smashed four century breaks of 147, 135, 133 and 120 whereas Joshi managed to score 153 and 109 points break at the Northern Snooker Centre.

Interestingly at half time, Joshi was leading by 42 points, but in second half, Pankaj accelerated and touched the 1000 mark to confirm his berth in the last-four stage.

Pankaj will now take on defending champion Mike Russell of England in the semifinal.

In another quarterfinal match, India's Rupesh Shah lost to David Causier of England by 545 points.

Rupesh had an average of 12.64 only and managed to score a single break of 217 points during the match.
