Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan on Friday lashed out at senior CPM leader M M Lawrence for continued criticisms against him. Making personal remarks against Lawrence, Achuthanandan warned the former not to force his hand to reveal further truths.
“Lawrence is an individual who admitted his wife and daughter to a mental asylum. His second daughter came to me while I was the Chief Minister seeking help to rescue her mother. She said her mother was not a patient,” said Achuthanandan.
VS said, on the request of Lawrence’s daughter, he called up the doctor concerned and asked him to handle the matter carefully. “The doctor’s reply was astonishing. He said that the woman had been admitted to the hospital at the request of her husband,” VS added. He further warned that he should not be compelled to open up things once closed and forgotten.
Commenting to a question on why he is attending the CMRL function, Achuthanandan said those who criticise the Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd (CMRL) are not well studied about the environment problems. “The CMRL is only manufacturing products (or chemicals) that could be used for purifying water,” he said.
