Los Angeles: A new reboot of Zorro franchise is being developed at Sony Pictures.
The latest adaptation of the sword-wielding Spanish outlaw reportedly will not be a remake because it will tell the origin tale of the comic book icon based on Isabel Allende's 2005 novel, reported Aceshowbiz.
Sony has hired Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia to pen the script for the project.
Zorro revolves around a fabled masked outlaw who lived during the Spanish colonial era of California in the 18th century. Zorro, which means 'fox' in English, is the secret identity of a nobleman named Don Diego de la Vega. The
character is known for his Z sword-slashing trademark when fighting with his enemies.
The story has been adapted into more than forty movies and a number of TV series. The last film adaptation of Zorro was Michael Campbell's 'The Legend of Zorro', which starred Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
