CHENNAI : The results for the Class X examinations of the Central Board of Secondary Examinations (Chennai Region) were released Monday evening. The results concerned 1,52,024 students across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Maharashtra, Pondicherry, Andaman & Nicobar, Daman & Diu and Lakshadweep. In all 99.66 per cent of the candidates passed the examinations.The results came as a surprise to many, with the Regional Office saying, even at 5pm, that the results were not expected on Monday. Further, different websites of the CBSE mentioned different dates for the result announcment. It took the input of roll numbers into the system for most to be sure that the results had indeed been released.This is the second year that the CBSE is releasing results for Class X under the Continuous and Comprehensive System, taking into account both scholastic and co-scholastic aspects of the students’ performance across Class IX and X.A total of 1,52,086 students registered for the exams and 1,52,024 students appeared for the exam. Of these students, 97,259 were board based, 54,741 were school based and 86 were private candidates. In total, candidates represented 2,117 schools across the region.A total of 1,51,509 students Qualified for Admission to Higher Classes, while 432 were Eligible for Improvement Of Perfomance (EIOP). Candidates wishing to apply for EIOP have been asked to apply for the same before June 22. The tentative date for the EIOP examination has been set for July 22.Further details and analyses of the results are expected to be released by the CBSE Regional Office in Chennai on Tuesday morning.
