J&K Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has expressed extreme grief over the accident.

New Delhi: 30 people are feared dead and five seriously injured after a bus fell into the Chenab river in Kishtwar in Jammu and Kashmir.

The bus, with over 40 people on board, was going from Jammu to Kishtwar. The Army and the police are carrying out rescue operations.

The divisional commissioner of Jammu has said divers will be employed to find any survivors. The injured have been airlifted to the Government Medical College Hospital in Jammu.

Expressing concern over frequency of road mishaps, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has expressed extreme grief and sorrow over the tragic road accident.

"Frequency of road mishaps in the state is a cause of serious concern. The traffic department should take adequate and stringent measures to check the recurrence of road accidents," Azad said.

He has asked the divisional administration to immediately rush rescue and relief teams to the site of accident, an official spokesman said in Srinagar.
