New Delhi: Aamir Khan starrer 3 Idiots is now entertaining new audiences and they are reciprocating by actively tweeting about it.
"3idiots" and "idiots" were among the top trending topics on Twitter on Friday and the credit goes to Surya Citra Televisi (SCTV), an Indonesian television channel that aired the Bollywood blockbuster.
The movie, directed by Raju Hirani, is being shown in two parts. The first on Friday, September 10, and the remaining part on Saturday, September 11.
Thousands of '3idiots' and 'idiots' tweets were flowing in every minute. If the tweets are any indication, Indonesia is loving 3 Idiots, ROFL-ing at the jokes and singing "give me some sunshine...". The only thing Indonesians seem to be complaining about the movie is the subtitles.
SCTV (@SCTV_) was also actively participating in the Twitter 3 Idiots euphoria by retweeting and participating in the Twitter conversation around the movie.
Bollywood films and stars are quite popular in Indonesia, with local television channels regularly airing dubbed Bollywood films. Even Bollywood seems to be interested in Indonesia. Some Indian music directors have been accused of copying tunes of popular Indonesian songs.
According to marketing research company comScore, Indonesia tops the Twitter market in terms of penetration with 20.8 per cent of its online population using Twitter, while the worldwide average is 7.4 per cent.
