BANGALORE: The Vidyaranyapura police have arrested three persons, including a woman, for allegedly cheating a person on the pretext of doubling money.The victim, who lost Rs 4 crore, committed suicide by coming under a train recently.Police have identified the accused as 75-year-old M G Ramachandran, a resident of Banashankari, his daughter Geetha (44) and Mohammed Farooq (62) of Mysore. K T Ashok, a resident of Vidyaranyapura, is the victim who was running Hoysala Engineering Works industry in Vidyaranyapura.The police said the accused accidentally met the victim and gained his confidence. Ramachandran had told him that they were into money doubling business and promised him that if he invests Rs 1 crore they would return Rs 2 crore in six months by investing it on gold.Trusting them, Ashok invested more than Rs 4 crore. Later, he realised that he was cheated and asked the accused to return his money. But as they did not give his money back, Ashok committed suicide by coming under a train in Ramanagaram on September 19. He had left behind a suicide note stating the reason and persons who had led him to take the extreme step.After this, Ashok’s wife Bharathi had filed a complaint against the three and the police have now arrested them.
