Naxals detonated a landmine killing 16 policemen including a police inspector.

New Delhi: Sixteen policemen were killed on Thursday in a Naxal attack in Tawitolal in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district.

The Naxals detonated a landmine killing 16 policemen including a police inspector and a sub-inspector.

The attack took place when a police party was on routine patrolling near Dhanora in Tawitolal.

This is the second Naxal attack in Gadchiroli in three months. In the previous attack in February 2009, 15 policemen were gunned down by Naxals in Gadchiroli.
