The festival starting on Dec 7 will have films from Asia, Africa and Latin American countries in the competition.

As the final arrangements of the year's International Film Festival of Kerala are getting completed, the competition section of the festival will as usual present 14 films vying for the coveted Suvarana Chakoram (Golden Crow Pheasant).

The eight-day festival starting on 7th of December will have films only from Asia, Africa and Latin American countries included in the competition section.

The Indian representation in this category are director Nitin Kakkar's 'Filimistaan', Kamal's 'ID', TV Chandran's 'Bhoomiyude Avakashikal (Inheritors of the Earth)' and Joy Mathew's 'Shutter'.

In the Retrospective section, five films of Australian filmmaker Paul Cox will be shown.
