How to Unlock a Bosch Oven
How to Unlock a Bosch Oven
Bosch ovens come equipped with many features, including a door lock. As an extra safety measure, this feature prevents children from changing the oven’s settings while it’s turned on, and also keeps unwanted chemical fumes from entering your home during the oven’s self-cleaning process. To keep your Bosch oven unlocked, use the specified button to toggle the child lock on and off. Additionally, feel free to stop any self-cleaning cycles with the “Oven Clear On/Off” button.
Steps

Turning off a Child Lock

Hold down the panel lock key for 4 seconds to disable the child lock. Scan the control panel of your Bosch oven to find the panel lock button. While a lot of the controls are digital, you can find this particular button on the left or right side of the LED display, depending on the exact model. Press and hold the key for 4 seconds to disable the lock on your oven. If the lock icon on the LED display isn’t lit up, then you’ve successfully turned off the child lock feature.

Press the panel lock button again to re-lock your oven. Reactivate the child lock by holding down the same button for another 4 seconds. Keep an eye on your LED display and wait for the lock symbol to light up. Toggle this feature as needed to make the oven door accessible. Once the oven lock is on, the only buttons you’ll be able to press are Oven Timer, Kitchen Timer, and the oven’s power button.

Contact customer support if the oven door is jammed. Continue using the panel lock button to lock and unlock the oven door. If the door glitches or seems stuck, don’t try to pry it open on your own. Instead, call customer service at 1-800-944-2904. If you need to use the oven immediately, call a local repair person instead.

Opening the Oven After Self-Cleaning

Monitor your oven after hitting the self-clean button. Make sure that the oven is turned off before adjusting your oven‘s self-cleaning settings. After pressing the self clean icon, select an amount of time between 2 and 4 hours to clean your oven. Once you’ve chosen a cycle time, keep an eye on the LED display to see how many hours are left in the process. Remove all of the racks before using the self-cleaning function in a Bosch oven.

Hit the Oven Clear button to end the cleaning process early. Use the cancel feature to your advantage if you need to access the oven before it’s finished self-cleaning. Look for the button that says “Oven Clear On/Off,” and press that to turn off the self-cleaning feature. Keep in mind that the oven timer will need a buffer time of at least a minute to cool down.

Open the door when the oven lock LED disappears. Wait several minutes for the oven to cool down after you’ve cancelled the cycle. Check the display periodically to see if the lock icon is still lit up. At this point, take a second to make sure that the oven cleaning icon is turned off as well. This symbol looks like a box with 9 dots inside of it. When cancelling a Bosch oven’s cleaning cycle, keep in mind that the oven lock icon will stay lit up during the cool down period.
