How to Tag Someone in Facebook Messenger on Android

Open Messenger. It’s the blue chat bubble icon with a white lightning bolt inside. You’ll usually find it on the home screen or in the app drawer.

Select a group chat. If you don’t see the chat in which you want to tag a member, use the search box at the top of the screen to find it.

Type @ into the text box.

Star typing the first name of the person you want to tag. For example, if you want to tag someone named Derek, type @derek. A pop-up will appear, showing any users in the chat that match what you’ve typed.

Tap the person you want to tag. When you tap the person, their name will appear in the chat box in blue, right where you’d originally typed the “@” tag.

Type your message.

Tap the send button. It’s the blue paper airplane icon at the bottom-right corner of the screen. Your tagged message will now appear in the group chat. The person you tagged will be notified that they’ve been tagged in the chat.
