Over the course of more than a decade, Tom Hiddleston has become synonymous with the mischievous and charismatic character Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Having encountered iconic figures like Thor, Iron Man, The Hulk, Captain America, and more, the actor recently delved into the characters he wishes Loki had crossed paths with on screen. In an exclusive interview with ComicBook, Hiddleston shared insights into the unexplored interactions and the uncertain future of Loki in the MCU. Despite Loki’s extensive tenure, Hiddleston pointed out a few notable omissions in terms of character encounters.
He highlighted the absence of any direct meetings between Loki and the Guardians of the Galaxy, expressing his belief that such an encounter would have been intriguing. “There are a couple of characters I think… I don’t think Loki ever met the Guardians, if I recall,” Hiddleston said. “That could have been fun, I think. I think he would’ve found ’em intriguing,” he added.
The dynamic between the God of Mischief and the cosmic crew remains an unexplored avenue, leaving fans to wonder about the banter and unpredictability that could have ensued.
Equally notable is the absence of face-to-face moments between Loki and Spider-Man. In a universe filled with interconnected storylines, it’s surprising that these two characters, known for their wit and cunning, never shared the screen.
“I think it’s interesting that Loki never comes up, never comes face-to-face with Spider-Man, I think that’s correct,” Hiddleston told ComicBook. Hiddleston’s acknowledgment of this gap leaves room for speculation on the kind of dynamic Loki and Spider-Man could have developed.
Furthermore, Hiddleston touched upon Loki’s lack of interaction with the Winter Soldier (Bucky) and Sam. In a universe where alliances and conflicts are constantly shifting, the absence of Loki in the mix with these characters raises questions about potential alliances or clashes that could have unfolded.
One of the intriguing matchups that Hiddleston mentioned was between Loki and Doctor Strange. “I always wanted to see… Loki and Strange is an interesting matchup, I think. In Ragnarok, I think Strange, that is one-nil to Doctor Strange,” he added.
He further asserted that a clash of magical prowess and quick-wittedness would undoubtedly have added layers to the MCU narrative.

As fans ponder these unexplored possibilities, the conclusion of Loki Season 2 adds an additional layer of uncertainty to the character’s future. The finale positions Loki at the center of the multiverse, seated amid the World Tree. This pivotal moment raises questions about the character’s trajectory and whether we have witnessed the last of Loki’s adventures.
In light of this uncertainty, Hiddleston remained open to the idea of future appearances. He candidly shared instances where he thought he had bid farewell to Loki, only to receive supportive responses from key figures within Marvel, emphasising that he is always part of the Marvel family.
“I’ve written to Kevin Feige and Louis D’Esposito and Victoria Alonso, ‘Thank you so much. It’s been like the role of a lifetime’ and they’ve written notes back saying ‘Come and see us any time you’re always part of the family, we’re always here. You know, you’ve given us so much.’ Tears have been shed. So I think I’d be unwise at this point. To be conclusive about any of it,” said Hiddleston.
As fans await further developments in the MCU, one thing remains certain – Loki’s legacy and impact on the Marvel universe are far from over. Only time will reveal the next chapter in the unpredictable and ever-expanding saga of the God of Mischief.
