Liverpool: Liverpool striker Luis Suarez says he is "upset" at allegations that he racially abused Manchester United defender Patrice Evra during a Premier League match.

England's Football Association has launched an investigation after Evra, a black French leftback, told French TV station Canal Plus that Suarez leveled racist insults at him during Saturday's 1-1 draw at Anfield.

Suarez wrote Sunday on his official Facebook page that he was "upset by the accusations of racism" made by Evra.

The Uruguay international says "I can only say that I have always respected and respect everybody. We are all the same. I go to the field with the maximum illusion of a little child who enjoys what he does, not to create conflicts."

Liverpool said Saturday that Suarez "categorically denies the allegations."

The FA had earlier said it would be making enquiries.

"Referee Andre Marriner was made aware of an allegation at the end of the fixture and has subsequently reported this to the FA," it said in a statement.

Defender Evra told the French media: "There were (TV) cameras. You can see him telling me this one word at least 10 times. There is no room for this in 2011."
