South Africa definitely staging World Cup: Blatter
Sepp Blatter says any Plan B for the 2010 World Cup had been shelved.

New Delhi: Reports that Spain had been lined up as a possible substitute for the tournament in two years time have been dismissed by FIFA's president.

Sepp Blatter has stated that South Africa will definitely be hold the World Cup Finals in 2010 and that any Plan B had been shelved after assurances that all the criteria would met in time.

The FIFA president spoke out as rumours persisted that Spain was being lined up as a possible replacement if numerous organisational deadlines were not met in time.

South Africa are on course to meet all the requirements though and Blatter, who has called the tournament 'his baby' and insisted that there are no longer any back-ups.

"There definitely is no plan B or C. The only plan is to make the South African event a success," he said at a press conference for the Club World Cup in Japan..

"If there are still doubters, let me say that the 2010 World Cup will be organised in South Africa."

There were said to be concerns over security in a country that a murder rate average of 50-per-day, while question marks remained over the stadia being ready, with five new arenas being built and five upgraded.

"Football is the most popular game in the world and in 2010 Africa will show that it is able to host a World Cup," Blatter added "I'll be proud because it is my baby."
