Sao Paulo: Luiz Felipe Scolari could remain Brazil coach beyond this year's World Cup. Brazil's football confederation vice president Marco Polo del Nero told news service Uol Esporte that the 65-year-old was the ideal man to continue in the role, irrespective of the Selecao's World Cup performance, reported Xinhua.

"I would like him to stay with us," Del Nero said. "He's a great, great person. It would be nice to stay regardless of the outcome."

Scolari assumed Brazil's coaching job for a second time in November 2012 after the sacking of Mano Menezes. He led the Selecao to their fifth World Cup title during his first spell in charge in 2002 before quitting to manage Portugal. Scolari has been non-committal about his future beyond the World Cup but has stated his desire to coach a European club.
