Reportedly, Liverpool have held extensive talks with the Sunderland goalkeeper for a 10-million-pound transfer.
New Delhi: Liverpool have expedited their attempts to rope in Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, with an agreement of 10 million pounds close to being signed after extensive talks were reportedly held between the two parties in the last 48 hours.
The Reds, according to reports, had made an initial offer of 8.5 million pounds that got rejected. Subsequently, they have decided to add 1.5 million pounds to their initial offer.
The Anfield side's interest in Mignolet got ignited after they failed to sign Stoke City's Asmir Begovic. The move is likely to force Pepe Reina to consider an offer from Barcelona, which the Spanish giants are likely to make after showing interest in the Liverpool glovesman.
