'Can’t Remember the Last Fantastic Idea': Liverpool Boss Jurgen Klopp Slams Proposal of Blue Cards
The latest change IFAB has proposed is the trial of sin-bins. Players who would show cynical behaviour and misdemeanour will be issued a blue card, which would result in the player being sent to the sin bin for 10 minutes before being reallowed in the game.

Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp lashed out at the International Football Association Board (IFAB) when asked about the introduction of blue cards. Klopp clearly stated that he didn’t expect many bright ideas from the members of the IFAB and was seemingly a little sceptical of the introduction of a new card in football. As per SportBIBLE, this is what he had to say about blue cards during the Liverpool versus Burnley pre-match conference: “If they want to test it, I have no problem…Doesn’t sound like a fantastic idea in the first moment. But actually I can’t remember when the last fantastic idea came from these guys. If they ever had one.”

Klopp certainly isn’t the only coach to be unsatisfied with the idea of the introduction of blue cards. Other Premier League managers have also chimed in on the discussion. Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola said, “I have no comments on the potential introduction of blue cards. Maybe I have an opinion when they are introduced”.

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou also wasn’t too happy with the IFAB proposal. As per several media outlets, he said, “Just Bin the whole idea, forget about it. I don’t know why they keep interjecting themselves into the game.” Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta also spoke on the situation saying he doubted if everyone involved in the game were ready for the implementation of this new football law. “I don’t know if we are ready for that yet,” he concluded.

The IFAB was founded back in 1886 and is headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland. The IFAB acts as the determining body for the Laws of the Game of association football. The latest change that the board has now proposed is the trial of sin-bins. This means that the players who would show cynical behaviour and misdemeanour will now be issued a blue card. The offences include an attack being unjustly stopped or dissent hurled towards the referees.

A blue card will result in the player being sent to the sin bin for 10 minutes before being reallowed in the game. It is also being considered that a blue card and a yellow card or two blue cards would combine to make a red card.
